Terms of Service
Last updated: 21 October 2026 · Applies to the Fluent apps for Android (com.fluent.neuralmesh), macOS (com.fluent.neuralmesh.mac) and iPhone/iPad (com.fluent.neuralmesh.ios, when released) and this website
The short version. Fluent is a practice tool. Use it for yourself, don't misuse it, and understand its scores are estimates. The app is provided as is. Please also read our Privacy Policy.
1. Agreement
These Terms are an agreement between you and Neuralmesh Private Limited ("we", "us") covering your use of the Fluent apps for Android, macOS, iPhone and iPad and this website. By downloading, installing or using Fluent you agree to these Terms. If you do not agree, do not use it.
2. Licence to use the app
We grant you a personal, non-exclusive, non-transferable, revocable licence to install and use Fluent on devices that you own or control, for your own non-commercial learning purposes. You may not copy, modify, distribute, sell, lease or reverse engineer the app or its lesson content, except where the law allows despite this restriction.
3. Fluent is a practice tool, not a teacher or an assessment
- Scores, levels and feedback are produced by fixed rules that compare your recognised speech with a target text, and by measures such as pace and pauses. They are estimates for practice and motivation.
- Speech recognition is performed by your device's speech service (Apple's, or your Android device's recognition service) and can mis-hear accents, background noise or unclear speech. A low score is not a judgement of your English.
- Fluent is not an official test. Its scores and checkpoints are not accepted as proof of proficiency by any institution and do not replace a qualified teacher or an accredited exam.
- Pronunciation and phonetic guides are simplified aids and may not match every dialect.
4. Your responsibilities
- Use the app lawfully and only for its intended purpose.
- Do not attempt to interfere with, disable or bypass the app's functions, or use it to harm others.
- Keep your device and any backup files you create secure. You are responsible for your backups.
- Do not record other people without their consent when practising in shared spaces.
- Grant the Microphone (and, on Apple platforms, Speech Recognition) permissions only if you are comfortable with them as described in the Privacy Policy.
5. Intellectual property
The app, its design, code, lesson content, icons and the Fluent name belong to us or our licensors and are protected by law. Nothing in these Terms transfers ownership to you. Your own practice data and transcripts remain yours, and we claim no rights to them. Third-party components, such as the Three.js library used on this website (MIT licence), remain under their own licences.
6. Distribution and purchases
Android (Google Play)
- Fluent for Android is distributed through Google Play and is free, with no in-app purchases. Your use of Google Play is also subject to Google's terms.
- Google LLC is not a party to these Terms and is not responsible for the app or its support.
Apple platforms (Fluent Pro)
- Fluent is free to download. Fluent Pro is an optional, one-time, non-consumable in-app purchase (US $9.99 or the local equivalent shown by the App Store) that unlocks the features described in the app and on our pricing page. It is not a subscription and does not renew.
- Purchases are processed by Apple through the App Store and are subject to Apple's Media Services Terms and Conditions. Payment is charged to your Apple ID at confirmation. We do not receive or store your payment details.
- Pro is linked to your Apple ID. You can restore it at no charge on your other devices running the same App Store app using Restore Purchases. Family Sharing is not enabled for Fluent Pro.
- Refunds are handled by Apple, not by us. You can request one at reportaproblem.apple.com. If Apple refunds a purchase, Pro features are removed from that Apple ID. Nothing in these Terms limits any right to a refund you have under consumer law.
- In-app purchases are available only in the App Store versions of Fluent. The Android app contains no purchases.
7. Availability and changes
We may update, change or discontinue Fluent or any feature at any time. Features, lesson content and scoring rules may change. Because data is stored on your device, an update or removal of the app does not delete it unless you choose to. If we change what Fluent Pro includes, purchases already made keep at least the features described at the time of purchase.
8. Disclaimer of warranties
Fluent is provided "as is" and "as available", without warranties of any kind, express or implied, including merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, accuracy, and non-infringement. We do not warrant that the app will be uninterrupted or error-free, that scores will be accurate, or that using it will achieve any particular result. Some jurisdictions do not allow the exclusion of certain warranties, so parts of this section may not apply to you. Nothing in these Terms limits any non-waivable statutory rights you have as a consumer.
9. Limitation of liability
To the maximum extent permitted by law, we will not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential or punitive damages, or for loss of data, profits or opportunities, arising out of your use of, or inability to use, Fluent, even if we have been told such damage is possible. To the extent permitted by law, our total liability for any claim relating to the app will not exceed the amount you paid for Fluent Pro, or INR 1,000 if you paid nothing (for example, when using the Android app or the free features).
10. Indemnity
To the extent permitted by law, you agree to indemnify us against claims arising from your misuse of the app or your breach of these Terms.
11. Termination
You may stop using Fluent at any time by deleting it. We may suspend or end your licence if you materially breach these Terms. Sections that by their nature should survive termination, including intellectual property, disclaimers and liability, will survive.
12. Governing law
These Terms are governed by the laws of India, without regard to its conflict of law rules. The courts at Delhi, India will have exclusive jurisdiction over any dispute, except that if you are a consumer, you keep the benefit of any mandatory protections available to you and any right to bring proceedings in the courts of the place where you live.
13. General
If any part of these Terms is unenforceable, the rest remains in effect. Our failure to enforce a right is not a waiver. These Terms, together with the Privacy Policy, are the entire agreement between you and us about Fluent. Apple Inc. and Google LLC are not parties to these Terms and have no obligation to provide support or maintenance for the app. We may update these Terms and will change the "Last updated" date when we do; continued use after an update means you accept it.
